The Urgency of Educational Foundations For Prospective Teachers and Educational Practitioners
Abstract
Educational foundations are an essential aspect that must be understood by prospective teachers and educational practitioners because they serve as the basis for implementing an educational process that is directed, systematic, and aligned with the expected goals. Understanding educational foundations is not only related to theoretical knowledge but also functions as a guideline for decision-making, instructional planning, and addressing various educational challenges in school environments. This article aims to explain the urgency of educational foundations for prospective teachers and educational practitioners in developing professional competence and improving the quality of educational implementation. The method used in this study is a literature review by analyzing various relevant sources related to the concepts, functions, and applications of educational foundations. The findings indicate that educational foundations include philosophical, psychological, sociological, historical, juridical, and pedagogical aspects that are interconnected in shaping educators' understanding of the nature of learners, educational objectives, and effective learning strategies. For prospective teachers, understanding educational foundations provides essential knowledge for developing professional attitudes, selecting appropriate teaching methods, and building their identity as educators. Meanwhile, for educational practitioners, educational foundations serve as a reference in formulating policies, managing educational institutions, and creating innovations to respond to social changes and the development of the times. Therefore, mastering educational foundations is a fundamental requirement for teachers and educational practitioners to perform their roles effectively in creating quality, relevant, and learner-centered education.
