Prophetic Hadith as a Source of Moral Creed Development

Abstract


The problem underlying this study is the weak understanding and practice of aqidah and moral values among several students, which leads to moral crises, declining religious commitment, and the emergence of various deviant behaviors in social life. This study aims to analyze the role of the Prophet’s Hadith as a primary source in developing Islamic creed and character, as well as to examine the effectiveness of internalizing Hadith values in shaping Muslims with strong faith and noble character. This research employs a qualitative approach through library research by examining Hadith literature, Qur’anic exegesis, academic works, and relevant Islamic education references. The results indicate that Hadith contributes significantly to strengthening faith, fostering spiritual awareness, and shaping commendable character through the Prophet’s exemplary conduct, universal moral values, and habituation of religious practices. The internalization of Hadith teachings is also proven to build self-control, moral responsibility, and positive social attitudes. In conclusion, the Prophet’s Hadith is highly effective as a source of aqidah and moral development because it presents comprehensive, practical, and contextually relevant guidance for modern challenges. Therefore, strengthening Hadith-based education should become a priority in families, schools, and communities to form Muslims who are firmly faithful and morally upright.
