Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays a crucial role in shaping students' character and spiritual values. One of the main topics in PAI is zakat fitrah, an Islamic pillar with deep social and spiritual significance. However, students' understanding of zakat fitrah remains inadequate due to conventional teaching methods that fail to engage them effectively. This study examines the implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL) in zakat fitrah education at SMP N 1 Laguboti to enhance students' comprehension. PBL, as a problem-based approach, provides students with an active and contextual learning experience, encouraging critical thinking and a deeper understanding of zakat concepts. The findings reveal that implementing PBL improves students' participation in learning and their understanding of zakat fitrah. Therefore, this approach is recommended for Islamic education teachers to make zakat fitrah lessons more effective and applicable.
