Abstract

This study aims to increase student participation in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in the material "Habituating Critical Thinking and the Spirit of Loving Science and Technology" in class XI of SMA Negeri 1 Teluk Mengkudu. The research method used is classroom action research (CAR) with two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Student participation is measured through observations of student activities during the learning process and questionnaires given at the end of the cycle. The results of the study showed a significant increase in student participation after the implementation of the PBL model. Students were more active in discussions, asking questions, and expressing opinions during the learning process. In addition, the implementation of the PBL model also encouraged students to think more critically and fostered their interest in science and technology (IPTEK). In conclusion, the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model is effective in increasing student participation and the quality of PAI learning in class XI of SMA Negeri 1 Teluk Mengkudu.
