Abstract

Religious education is an important aspect of learning in elementary schools, including zakat fitrah material which must be understood by Muslim students. However, students' understanding of zakat fitrah at SDN 102010 Liberia is still inadequate, even though this material is taught every year. One of the causes is conventional teaching methods that are less interesting and do not actively involve students. This research aims to increase 5th grade students' understanding of zakat fitrah through the application of audio-visual media. This media is expected to present material in a more interesting and interactive way, make it easier to understand abstract concepts, and increase student involvement in the learning process. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of classroom action research, which was carried out at SDN 102010 Liberia with 20 grade 5 students as subjects. The results of the research show that the use of audio-visual media is effective in increasing students' understanding of zakat fitrah, both in terms of concept and implementation. Simulating the calculation of zakat fitrah through group discussions also helps students apply the knowledge they have learned. Thus, the application of audio-visual media can increase student motivation and learning completeness in learning zakat fitrah.
