Psychological Basis of Education: Developmental Theories and Their Influence on The Learning Process

Abstract


Educational psychology is one of the key foundations for understanding effective learning and teaching processes. This study aims to examine various educational psychology theories and their contributions to supporting the learning process and student development. The method used is library research, using various literature sources, such as books, scientific journal articles, and other academic sources relevant to educational psychology. The data were analyzed descriptively through the review and synthesis of various theories related to learning. The results of the study indicate that educational psychology theories, such as cognitive theory, humanistic theory, behaviorism, Bloom's and Krathwohl's learning theories, Kolb's learning theory, and psychosocial development theory, play a significant role in explaining students' learning processes. These theories provide insights into cognitive, social, and emotional development, learning motivation, behavior formation, and learning strategies appropriate to students' characteristics. Furthermore, this study demonstrates that the application of educational psychology principles can assist teachers in designing more effective, adaptive, and learner-centered instruction. The contribution of this research lies in providing a comprehensive understanding of the relevance of various educational psychology theories as a foundation for the development of learning strategies.
