Peer Review Process
All articles submitted to El-mahar: Jurnal ilmu-ilmu Kependidikan & Bahasa Arab undergo a screening and review process by the Editorial Board to ensure that they follow the scope of the journal and have sufficient academic quality and novelty to interest El-mahar: Jurnal ilmu-ilmu Kependidikan & Bahasa Arab The manuscripts will then be sent to the Peer-Reviewers for a Double-Blind Peer-Review Process in which both reviewers and authors' identities remain anonymous.

- Initial screening: Newly-submitted manuscripts will be filtered by the Editor-in-Chief/Editorial Board for compliance with the scope of the El-mahar: Jurnal ilmu-ilmu Kependidikan dan Bahasa Arab and basic stylistic and bibliographic requirements, and for plagiarism using Turnitin software (the paper similarity index should be maximum 20%);
- Peer review: If the manuscript passes the initial screening stage, the manuscript will be assigned to the Editor, who will then send it to at least two experts in the relevant field to undergo a double-blind peer review. Manuscripts that fail to pass the initial screening will be rejected without further review;
- First decision: Decisions on manuscripts that are peer-reviewed will be made after receiving at least two review reports. In cases where the reports differ significantly, the Editor will invite additional reviews before making a decision. At this stage, a manuscript can be rejected, requested to be revised (small or large), accepted as is, or (if significant changes to the language or content are recommended) recommended to be sent back for a second-round review process. If accepted, the manuscript will be returned to the author for formatting. The final decision to accept the manuscript will be made by the Editor in Chief based on recommendations from the Editor and following approval by the Editorial Team;
- Revision stage: A manuscript that needs revision will be returned to the submitting author, who will have up to seven days to format and revise the manuscript, which will then be reviewed by the Editor. The Editor will determine whether the changes are adequate and appropriate and whether the author has responded sufficiently. If not, then the cycle will be repeated with the manuscript returned to the submitting author for further revision;
- Final decision: At this stage, the revised manuscript will be accepted or rejected. This decision depends on whether the Editor believes the manuscript has been upgraded to a level suitable for publication. If the author has not made the necessary changes or has made it to a level below the El-mahar: Jurnal ilmu-ilmu Kependidikan dan Bahasa Arab standard, the manuscript will be rejected.

El-Mahara: Jurnal Pendidikan dan Bahasa Arab is a Journal published online biannually in June and December.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Archiving
This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
Author Guidelines
Carefully read the Author's Guidelines as follows:
A. General Requirements
- Manuscripts submitted to El-mahar: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Arab should be research-based papers that have not been published or are under consideration elsewhere.
- Manuscripts must be in Arabic. It should be typed in MS Word doc. Format; Use 18-pt Traditional Arabic or 12-pt Times New Roman font; left, top margins are 3 cm, and right, bottom margins are 3 cm; line Spacing 1,15 pt with paper size A4; 13-18 pages in length or 6000-9000 words.
- Subject reviewers will review the manuscript, while the editors reserve the right to edit the manuscript for format consistency without altering the substance.
- Make sure that the manuscript is prepared using the Article Template. Use the Online Submission Guidelines to access the Open Journal Systems (OJS).
- The manuscript must be submitted through the OJS (El-mahar: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Arab). For confirmation, the Submission Checklist and Statement of Originality must be emailed to the Journal Editor (thariqahilmiah@gmail.com)
- The citations and references should follow the style of the Chicago Manual of the style 17th edition (full note) and use Reference Management Software ZOTERO (http://www.zotero.org) or MENDELEY (www.mendeley.com).
- The manuscript must be checked in terms of grammar, structure, spelling, etc. It is suggested to use Grammar Checker Software GRAMMARLY (http://app.grammarly.com).
B. Manuscript Structure
- The article structure contains (a) Title; (b) Author(s) Name, (c) Affiliation, (d) Email Address; (e) English Abstract and Indonesian Abstract; (f) Keywords; (g) INTRODUCTION (WITHOUT heading); (h) RESEARCH METHOD; (i) RESEARCH FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION; (j) CONCLUSION (and Suggestion); (k) Acknowledgements (if necessary); and (l) REFERENCES.
- Title: the title of the article should be written in a simple form, concise, and informative in a phrase or clause format (Capitals-lowercase, Bold, Center, 18-pt Traditional Arabic or 12-pt Time New Roman, max 12 words)
- Author(s) Name: The full name of the author(s) must be written without academic title(s) in 12-pt Time New Roman font.
- Affiliation: The affiliation (Full name University, and country) should be written below the name in 11-pt Time New Roman font.
- Email Address; The Corresponding Author's email address should be written below the affiliation in 10-pt Time New Roman font. (Corresponding Author will handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing and publication, also post-publication; this responsibility includes answering any future queries about the Methodology and Materials of the paper). Ensure that the e-mail address is given and that contact details are kept up to date by the Corresponding Author.
- English/Arabic Abstract and Indonesian Abstract: An abstract must go with each manuscript; it should be clear, descriptive, and provide a brief overview of the problem studied. It is also with no figure, table, equation, or citation), between 150 – 250 words, and written as a single paragraph in Arabic in Traditional Arabic 16-pt or in English in Times New Roman font 11 single space. The abstract should include the purposes of the research, methodology, and findings. The abstract should be ended with a comment about the importance of the results or a brief conclusion.
- INTRODUCTION: This section is to introduce your paper, including the background of the study, issues to be solved, and reviews of related findings, which consist of 700 – 1500 words (2 – 3 pages) with the font 18-pt Traditional Arabic or Times New Roman font 12 point Line Spacing 1,15 pt with paper size A4, should be written without heading. The introduction should include key references to appropriate work. It states the significant contribution of the research. The introduction should consist of the background of the study, research contexts, literary review, and research objective (at the end of the introduction). The introduction should explicitly state the research gap and show the scientific merit or novelty of the research. All introductions should be presented in the form of paragraphs, not pointers.
- RESEARCH METHOD: This sub-title must consist of a brief description of the methods of the research, including research design, sources of the research (population/sample/ participants of the research, instrument used, techniques of collecting the data, and data analysis) without subtitle, which consist of 1 – 2 paragraphs (150 – 300 words or 0.5 – 1 page). It is written in Time New Roman font 12 with a Line Spacing of 1,5 pt.
- RESEARCH FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION: This section will describe the research findings, then complete with a discussion. It must consist of elaborated between 1500 – 4500 words (8 – 10 pages). Research Findings are the explanation of the result of the research based on analysis of the data, whether it is in qualitative or quantitative approaches. The findings section consists of a description of the results of the data analysis to answer the research question(s). The findings should summarize (scientific) findings rather than provide data in great detail. Please highlight the differences between your results or findings and the previous publications by other researchers. This section should be explained in several subsections with a detailed explanation of the findings. The First Sub-Topic (Finding 1): The author(s) should make a sub-topic in bold type and capitalize each word. The findings are the description of the result, and it can be completed with chart(s), graphic(s), diagram(s), or table (s); The Second Sub Topic (Finding 2): The findings should summarize (scientific) findings rather than providing data in great detail. Please highlight the differences between your results or findings and the previous publications by other researchers. This section should be explained in several subsections with a detailed explanation of the findings; The Third Sub Topic (Discussion): This sub-topic describes the relationship of your findings to theory and other research findings. It is not for repeating the research findings or the theory but to elaborate on the result. The author(s) must show the novelty of this study compared to the others.
- CONCLUSION: This section is in the format of a paragraph that consists of 1 – 2 paragraphs (300 – 500 words or 0.5 – 1 page only). It should indicate the findings clearly. It also explains the advantages and disadvantages of your findings and the possibility of developing the research.
- Acknowledgment: If needed, you must say in this sub-discussed about the involvement of other parties or institutions or other institutions in the research conducted, just written in 2 – 5 sentences only.
- REFERENCES: Every source cited in the body of the article should appear in the References, and all sources appearing in the References should be cited in the body of the article. The references should be more up-to-date (published in the last 5-10 years). The primary sources cited in your paper are in the forms of journal articles, proceedings, and research reports, including theses and dissertations that can be accessed online (show the DOI address/URL). Citations from online journal articles should be at least 80% of the references cited. The References should be presented alphabetically and chronologically and be set to 18-pt Traditional Arabic or 12-pt Time New Roman font, justified, with single line spacing and hanging indent. Check each reference against the original source (author name, volume, issue, year, DOI number). Please use the Reference Manager Application (ZOTERO/ MENDELEY) to manage the references for your paper. Use other published articles in the same journal as models.

Publication Ethics
El-Mahara; Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Arab is a peer-reviewed journal, available in print and online and published 2 times a year. This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, the chief editor, the Editorial Board, the peer-reviewer and the publisher Al-Ahliyah Al-Islamiyah Foundation. This statement is based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
Plagiarism Checker
The editor board can review the article after completing the attachment of the plagiarism checker and stating that the article at least 75% is origin using tools of checker [Mendeley, Turnitin, Plagiarisma, and Grammarly].
Journal Publication Ethics Guidelines Publishing an article in the peer-reviewed El-Mahara; Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Arab is an important cornerstone in developing a coherent and respected knowledge network. This is a direct reflection of the quality of the authors' work and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is therefore important to agree on standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: authors, journal editors, peer reviewers, publishers, and the public.
Al-Ahliyah Al-Islamiyah Foundation as the publisher of El-Mahara; Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Arab, takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing exceptionally seriously, and we recognize our ethical and other responsibilities. We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint, or additional commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions. Besides, the Al-Ahliyah Al-Islamiyah Foundation Padangsidimpuan and the Editorial Board will assist in communications with other journals and publishers where this is useful and necessary.
Publication decisions
The editor of the El-Mahara, Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Arab, is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should publish. The validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always drive such decisions. The editors may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. The editors may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.
Fair play
An editor at any time evaluates manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.
Confidentiality
The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.
Disclosure and conflicts of interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's research without the author's written consent.
Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions, and the editorial communications with the author may also help the author improve the paper.
Promptness
Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.
Confidentiality
Any manuscripts received for review must treat as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.
Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should conduct objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that the authors have not cited. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument reported should accompany the appropriate citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper they have personal knowledge of.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts with conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.
Duties of Authors
Reporting standards
Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed and an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.
Data Access and Retention
Authors are asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review and should be prepared to provide public access to such data (consistent with the ALPSP-STM Statement on Data and Databases), if practicable, and should, in any event, be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.
Originality and Plagiarism
The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original actions, and if the authors have used the works or words of others, that this has appropriately cited or quoted.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
An author should not generally publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same paper concurrently to more than one journal constitutes unacceptable publishing behavior.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have influenced the nature of the reported work.
Authorship of the Paper
Authorship should be limited to those who have contributed significantly to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where others have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included in the paper and that all co-authors have seen and approved the article's final version and have agreed to its submission for publication.
Fundamental errors in published works
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his published work, it is the obligation of the author to immediately notify the editor of the journal or publisher and work with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
Archive Policy
El-Mahara; Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Arab uses the LOCKSS system to create a distributed filing system among participating libraries and allows these libraries to create permanent archives of journals for preservation and restoration purposes. And El-Mahara; Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Arab send their content to the national library database of the Republic of Indonesia, OneSearch, Garuda (Digital Reference Center), and several journal indexing institutions so that data availability is guaranteed and accessible.
Plagiarism Policy
El-Mahara; Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Arab published by Al-Ahliyah Al-Islamiyah Foundation Padangsidimuan recognizes that plagiarism is not acceptable for all authors and therefore establishes the following policy stating specific actions (penalties) when El-Mahara identifies plagiarism; Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Arab anti-plagiarism software detection using Turnitin software (https://www.turnitin.com) in an article that is submitted for publication.
“Plagiarism is copying another person’s text or ideas and passing the copied material as your own work. You must both delineate (i.e., separate and identify) the copied text from your text and give credit to (i.e., cite the source) the source of the copied text to avoid accusations of plagiarism. Plagiarism is considered fraud and has potentially harsh consequences including loss of a job, loss of reputation, and the assignation of reduced or failing grade in a course."
This definition of plagiarism applies to copied texts and ideas:
Regardless of the source of the copied text or idea.
Regardless of whether the author(s) of the text or idea, you have copied that text or picture from another source.
Regardless of whether or not the authorship of the text or idea that you copy is known
Regardless of the nature of your text (journal paper/article, web page, book chapter, paper submitted for a college course, etc.) into which you copy the text or idea
Regardless of whether or not the author of the source of the copied material permits for the material to be copied; and
Regardless of whether you are or are not the author of the source of the copied text or idea (self-plagiarism).
When plagiarism is identified by the Plagiarism Checker (using Turnitin software), the Editorial Board is responsible for the review of this paper and will agree on measures according to the extent of plagiarism detected in the article in agreement with the following guidelines:
1. Minor Plagiarism: A small sentence or short paragraph of another manuscript is plagiarized without any significant data or ideas from other papers or publications.
Punishment: A warning is given to the authors and a request to change the manuscript and properly cite the original sources.
2. Intermediate Plagiarism: An article's significant data, paragraph, or sentence is plagiarized without proper citation to the original source.
Punishment: The submitted article is automatically rejected.
3. Severe Plagiarism: A large portion of an article is plagiarized that involves many aspects such as reproducing original results (data, formulation, equation, law, statement, etc.), ideas, and methods presented in other publications.
Punishment: The paper is automatically rejected, and the authors are forbidden to submit further articles to the journal.

El-Mahara: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Arab is an open-access journal. Since manuscript submission year 2023-2024, Authors should not pay some processing fees (Free Charges) for article processing and DOI maintenance once their articles have been accepted.
